Social exclusion violates the fundamental right of every person to live freely, without discrimination. Attitudes are “the currents below the surface, deeper and stronger". Ignorance, stereotypes and prejudices are deeply rooted beliefs that do not change in one day, nor by one person. It requires considerable time, systematic awareness campaigns, awakening and interaction to create a society of social consciousness to safeguard the basic rights of vulnerable social groups.

Over the last 10 years SKEP’s proposed programs have been creating opportunities for change in the public’s mentality, aiming to empower people with disabilities and ensure their basic rights.

Disability awareness programs addressing the general public aim to establish social responsibility “reflexes” and promote equal participation for all in society. Such programs are necessary, since they:

  • Increase the number of people who must comprehend the problems faced by challenged youth
  • Record data, sharing of best practices and solutions
  • Exchange know-how through continuous collaboration with social and governmental institutions, university networks and European Union services both in Greece and abroad
  • Disseminate information and results

Goals:

  • Empower young people (with and without disabilities) by offering them new opportunities and better prospects
  • Promote social and professional inclusion
  • Protect human rights and equal opportunities for challenged youth
  • Encourage active citizenship in society

Groups that benefit

  1. Students of primary and secondary schools education schools & University students
  2. General Public such as
