LUNARIA

SKEP participated in «The perfect match», a European program conducted by the Italian Organization “Lunaria”. People from 25 countries participated in the program which took place on October 2014 and April 2015. Our delegation was composed of 5 members: Aimilia Vakoufari, Christina Zaloni, Christos Kaskarikas, Sofia Zavitsanou and Klairi Stafularaki. The program included delegations from Italy, Belgium, Spain, Austria, Slovakia, Germany, France, Bulgaria, and Hungary. Some members were visually impaired. The location was a picturesque estate at Poggio Mirteto Scalo, one hour out of Rome.

Both times, the program lasted for 8 days and dealt with disability as a whole. At the programs’ kick off, the team members had the opportunity to meet each other. This was followed by activation exercises. Experiential workshops featured verbal communication, as well as other means of expression such as art and outdoor activities. These were conducted in an informal educational framework, directed at people with & without disabilities.

The program's goal was to provide the participants with new tools, methods and means of approaching disability, to develop new abilities and effective practices through gained experiences.
Aimilia claimed that the program “left us with a sweet aftertaste and new sentiments. It made us ‘see’ the world through a different perspective and helped us realize the difficulties a person with disability faces. Our sensitization was such that it made us eager to share with others everything we experienced… We would like to thank SKEP for giving us the opportunity to gain such a strong experience.”
