  • Saturday 30.9.2023 - 3rd annual Circles Meet Up of the Lean In Network in Greece. SKEP's Inclusion & Accessibility Consultant Dimitra Kontova, participated in a panel on the subject "From Girls' Strenghts", that took place at the Serafion of the Athens Municipality. The goal of the Lean In Network Greece-Athens is to support women in achieving their ambitions so that we live in a more fair world where people of all genders can pursue their dreams without prejudice or other barriers holding them back. A world where girls will grow up to be anything they desire and have the confidence to do it.
  • Monday 18.9.2023 - SKEP's participation at the invitation of the U.S. EMBASSY. Together with other disability organizations and advocates, we committed to raising our voices for a disability-inclusive society where respect, accessibility and equal representation are the norm.
  • October 2023 - May 2024 - Colors and Minds – When Art meets the Psychosocial Sector - Colors & Minds is an experiential artistic program raising awareness in the psychosocial sector for young people, and is jointly organized by the following entities: the National Museum of Contemporary Art Athens (ΕΜΣΤ), Association of Social Responsibility for Children and Youth (SKEP), Association for Regional Development and Mental Health (EPAPSY) and the voluntary artistic initiative Talks & Crafts.The Experiential Artistic Program has as a goal the deployment of visual arts to promote an understanding and acceptance of the world around us with the ultimate aim of creating a more friendly society for all. It will involve young people from the general population (students from the Athens School of Fine Arts, the Art and Psychotherapy Centre and volunteers), as well as recipients of mental health services.Inspired by Vlassis Caniaris’ work Hopscotch (1974), the participants are invited to use different artistic means (drawing, photography/video, sculpture, installation, performance and text) to experientially explore contemporary art through various conceptual aspects of the specific work. Colors and Minds will be held at ΕΜΣΤ from October 2023 to May 2024. A three-day presentation of the artwork created by the participants will follow.
  • June 10, 2023. BOOM Village Family Festival - "How do you drive? How do you dance? How do you swim in the sea when you can't move your legs?" Dimitra Kontova, SKEP's Inclusion & Accessibility Consultant participated by answering all queries and discussing openly with parents and children who attended the Festival.
  • May 30, 2023. Implementing the Accessibility & Inclusion Educational Program for SDE - Hellenic Advertisers Association, member companies.
    Together with HandsUp we carried out the Educational Program. We discussed with SDE Member Companies about stereotypes, obstacles, lack of social acceptance, but also about responsibility, equality, accessibility and inclusion.
  • May 25, 2023. SKEP's participation in the "Partners in Democracy Symposium", an initiative of the American Embassy in Athens as well as the Delphi Economic Forum. Dimitra Kontova, SKEP's Inclusion and Accessibility Consultant took part in the discussion panel, “Fighting for Equality, Fighting for Democracy”. She undescored the importance of the social visibility and representation of disabled people in shaping decisions taken by government, society and businesses.
  • May 24, 2023. SKEP was invited by the Region of Central Greece to participate in the conference "Disability Awareness Week" which was organized for the second year in a row, having as a slogan "All Together - All Equal". Dimitra Kontova, SKEP's Inclusion and Accessibility Consultant took part in the Discussion on Vocational Training & Access to the Labor Market for Persons with Disabilities. Through her own personal experiences being a disabled person, she emphasized the obstacles in the social infrastructure that prevents disabled people from having equal access to education, vocational training and the labor market. Moreover, she pointed out that there is a need for change in the mindset on the part of employers to be more inclusive and provide employment opportunities to disabled people.
  • Μay 5, 2023. For the very first time ever in the beer industry, Mythos Beer presented its universally accessible campaign "Everywhere there is an 'I'm beside you!'". Acting as an Accessibility and Inclusion Consultant, SKEP collaborated with the executives of the companies to inform and train all those involved regarding the means of communication as well as the tools needed to be used to ensure the inclusive character of the campaign in all its manifestations.
  • May 4, 2023. The Embassy of the United States of America. Ms Ileana Vasdeki, SKEP's Communication Director, met with the Public Affairs Counselor of the U.S. Embassy in Athens, Ms Kristin Roberts, to discuss the promotion of inclusive education in Greece.
  • May 2, 2023. Doukas Schools. The A4 Doukas high school students carried out a very interesting activity entitled "A Different Lesson for Students with Blindness", organized in collaboration with the schools' BTEC-GCE department which was coordinated by the Department Head Ms. Katerina Traga and the A4 Department Counselor Professor, Dr. Sophia Papadopoulou. More specifically, after the students engaged in SKEP's website www.hoponinclusion.com they came up with the idea of developing a Biology Course for blind students, and created organelles of the cell with the help of BTEC – GCE students. The result was really impressive!
  • May 2023. SKEP in collaboration with Black Light Athens undertook the training of security staff of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. The participants had the opportunity to understand and familiarize themselves with concepts such as: Disability, Disabled People, Accessibility, Access, Inclusive Communication, etc. Moreover, they were trained in approaching and accompanying blind people & people with mobility impairments in the optimal comprehension of the structural environment of the SNFCC as well as in entry/exit techniques from indoor spaces, etc.
  • April 25, 2023. The Embassy of the United States of America. SKEP was invited by the U.S. EMBASSY ATHENS to participate in a meeting with the U.S. Department of State Special Advisor on International Disabilities Rights, Ms Sara Minkara. During the meeting, Ileana Vasdeki, SKEP's Communications Director, had a most fruitful discussion with Ms. Minkara and other local stakeholders, exchanging views on disability issues, as well as Greece's stance on the matter. 
  • April 5, 2023. INDIE AWARDS. 4 gold awards and 1 bronze went to the "Inclusion... This is the norm" campaign created by Leoussis.a for SKEP.
  • March 27, 2023. 1st multi-thematic Conference of Central Greece, STAR FORUM 2023. Dimitra Kontova participated in the 1st multi-thematic Conference of Central Greece, STAR FORUM 2023, at the Panhellenic Exhibition of Lamia. The panel discussed the importance of an inclusive attitude & mindset, as well as practical directions on how to interact with disabled people in everyday life.
  • March 7, 2023. SKEP launched its new, innovative social awareness campaign. Its central message “Disability? Forget the stereotypes! Let’s create a world with new standards". The campaign invites you to visit www.hopononclusion.com, so together we can lay the foundations of a society that leaves no one behind. It consists of a radio social message and a fully accessible TV message (with subtitles and sign language interpretation), created by MAGNET Adversting and produced by Topcut-Modiano, with original soundtrack by Oxyzed.

  • October 5, 2022. Participation of SKEP with the intervention of the President Ms. Athena Kritikou at the International Journalism Week organized by iMEdD (incubator for Media Education and Development), held at the Athens Conservatory from October 5 to 9, on the topic of trust in the media and entitled "A Matter of Trust".
  • May 2, 2022. Ileana Vasdeki presented SKEP to more than 30 young people from five countries: Italy, Romania, Estonia, Portugal and Greece, within the framework of the "Pan Rights" program organized by the NGO KINITRO. The workshop was entitled "Contributing to a better Humanity".
  • April 30, 2022.  In the context of the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Greek Guiding Association, SKEP implemented its program "Focus on the Person" for a group of 15 teenagers.
  • April 25, 2022. The Association "Friends of the Castle" in Sifnos island hosted on Easter Monday, at the Old School of the village, SKEP's educational program "Focus on the Person".
  • January - June 2022. A school for all: MYTILINEOS Group supports SKEP’s disability awareness education program in Viotia. Implementation of SKEP’s Disability Awareness Educational Program “Focus on the Person” in schools that are located at the Prefecture of Viotia and specifically in the Municipality of Distomo, Arachova and Antikyra.
  • January - June 2022. SNFCC Guided tours in sign language. The SNFCC aiming to offer accessible tours of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, collaborates with SKEP in providing guided tours of the cultural center in sign language. The tours are conducted by SKEP’s external collaborator Mr. Konstantinos Samaras.
  • January - March 2022.  Ideas in the Classroom: "The SNFCC Student Market in the Classroom: A school for all – Disability Awareness Webinar". Online workshop for teachers focusing on the importance of diversity in the school context.
  • 07/12/2021 - SKEP participated in the SNFCC seminars Ideas in the Classroom. The title of the seminar was “The SNFCC Students’ Agora in the Classroom: Inclusive School – Becoming aware of, and familiarized with, diversity”. Panagiotis Pitsiniagkas and Ileana Vasdeki presented ideas and suggestions on how to discuss diversity and disability in the classroom to teachers from all over Greece.  
  •  May 2021 - December 2021. It is our great pleasure and honor to support the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations S.A. (HCAP/ ΕΕΣΥΠ) accessibility strategy in collaboration with Me Alla Matia NPO and the Hellenic Association for Asperger Syndrome.
  • SKEP voluntarily has undertaken the implementation of the accessibility strategy for the Transport for Athens. The strategy has a dual purpose:
    A. Training and educating employees through interactive seminars, aiming to improve the accessibility of urban transport for every user.
    B. Evaluating both indoor and outdoor spaces, aiming to improve the accessibility of its infrastructure.
  • 20/11/2021. Participation of SKEP's President of the Board Athena Kritikou at the Online event titled: "Health, Education, Prosperity, Safety for all children". On the occasion of the International Day for the Child, Ms. Rodi Kratsa-Tsagaropoulou, Regional Governor of the Ionian Islands organized an online conference, under the auspices of the Ionian Islands Region.
  • 20/11/2021. Sign language tour at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center by SKEP. As part of the SNFCC's accessibility services towards visitors, it offers guided tours in sign language. The specific tours are conducted by Konstantinos Samaras, SKEP's motivational speaker who acts as an external collaborator. 
  • 24/09/2021. Ileana Vasdeki participated in the "Labyrinth of Training" a workshop for 30 young people from five countries: Spain, Romania, Bulgaria, Tunisia and Greece discussing the notion of disability.
  • 20/09/2021. Ileana Vasdeki participated in the inCLUEsion program, as part of the Human Library, she presented to 30 young people from five countries: Spain, Romania, Bulgaria, Tunisia and Greece about disability in Greece.
  • 19/07/2021. SKEP at "Sxedia home". Using the book "My Little Worlds" by Fourfouri publications as a "vehicle", Panagiotis Pitsiniagkas and Ileana Vasdeki, through an open dialogue, introduce children to the notion of disability and diversity. 
  • 17/06/2021. SKEP’s President Athena Kritikou addresses UN Conference. We are particularly honored to announce the participation of SKEP’s Founder and President Athena Kritikou at the 14th session of the UN Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, at the UN headquarters, in New York on June 17, 2021. SKEP’s participation in the event is held under the auspices of the Permanent Mission of Greece to the United Nations.

    1.    19/03, Experiential workshop of awareness and socialization focusing on science. The workshop was held with students from Kantas School as well as youth with disability from ESEEPA Special Vocational Training Center.

  • Participation at the second phase of the European program «The perfect match», conducted by the Italian Organization “Lunaria”. People from 25 countries participated. The program lasted 8 days, and dealt with disability as a whole. The program's goal was to provide the participants with new tools, methods, and means of approaching disability, and to ultimately develop new abilities, and effective practices through gained experiences.

The following speakers participated in the discussion: Mr. George Patoulis –Mayor of the Municipality of Amarousion, Mr. Ioannis Pisimisis – Alderman on Educational Issues of the Municipality of Vrilissi, Mr. Stelios Kimpouropoulos - Specialized Psychiatrist, Mr. Panagiotis Pitsiniagkas – SKEP’s Motivational Speaker, while the discussion was coordinated by the journalist Penelope Gavra.

  • SKEP participated in «The perfect match», a European program conducted by the Italian Organization “Lunaria”. People from 25 countries participated. The program lasted 8 days, and dealt with disability as a whole. The program's goal was to provide the participants with new tools, methods, and means of approaching disability, and to ultimately develop new abilities, and effective practices through gained experiences.
  • 30 students from the French Hospital Institute MFR Le Poiré sur Vie, visited our offices and participated in an open dialogue conducted by SKEP’s members with disability. The students were informed about our actions and we discussed the differences regarding disability between Greece and France.
  • During the first Social Entrepreneurship Week in Greece, Athena Kritikou, SKEP’s President of the Board, spoke at the event "Catalyzing Solutions for Change" which was co-created by Ashoka Greece & Impact Hub. The event’s intention was to showcase examples of high scale initiatives, approaches and supporting structures that together solve social challenges of our times in Greece and abroad.
  • 03/12, Doukas School - Awareness and educational activities during the International Day of Disability (Students of Doukas School participated together with students with disability from “Margarita” Special Education School).
  • 27/11, Free Thinking Zone – Open discussion entitled: "How to transform adversity into something positive". The debate was SKEP's initiative in collaboration with the General Secretariat for Gender Equality. The panel included women with and without disability, renown in their respective professions, who shared their experiences. More specifically the speakers were: Effie Karakitsou, President and CEO of Magnet, Alexandra Pitta - Chazapi, CEO Attiki Bee Culturing Company, Eugenia Lianou, Human Resources Director at Cocomat and Theodora Katsivardakou, Head of Department of Industrial Relations and Social Affairs for the General Secretariat for Gender Equality. Key questions, from the male perspective were asked by the specialist psychiatrist Stelios Kimpouropoulos, while the discussion was coordinated with great sensitivity by the journalist John Politis.
