“Asking to Learn” - Online Disability Awareness Program

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we at SKEP have turned adverse conditions into opportunities by finding solutions that allow us to remain efficient and flexible, while evolving and enriching our Educational Programs, both in Greece and abroad.  Therefore, we created the Online Disability Awareness Program “Asking to Learn”, implemented since October 2020.

The Online Program aims to familiarize people - regardless of age - with diversity. It consists of multiple experiential and accessible videos (features Greek, English subtitles and voice over). The videos are available free of charge and can be found on our website here.

In these videos, SKEP’s motivational speakers with disability talk about crucial issues concerning people with disability, in a direct and honest way. Through an open dialogue with young people without disability, they recount how they overcome obstacles and defeat adversity, while explaining their everyday life. The dialogue promotes the notions of coexistence, empathy, solidarity, acceptance and fosters personality development, as well as, the respect for each individual’s uniqueness.

If you wish to participate in SKEP’s Online Program "Asking to Learn" please contact us by email at skep@skep.gr.

The program can be implemented in schools through:

1. Online video call: Open dialogue with SKEP’s motivational speakers with disability and students during a teaching hour via Webex, Teams, Zoom or any other platform you use in your school.

2.  Viewing of the educational videos by the students. Videos are provided free of charge on our website.

3. Combined program conducted online: After viewing the video, students will engage through an open discussion with SKEP’s motivational speakers with disability, during 1 teaching hour.

When the schools reopen, and if you wish, the program can be implemented with the physical presence of our motivational speakers with disability who will visit your school, in full accordance with all the instructions provided by our National Public Health Organization for COVID - 19 as well as the relevant decisions of the Ministry of Education.
