TRANSFORM THE BOOK

Onassis Foundation in collaboration with SKEP implement every year the experiential workshop "Transform the Book".

Through the magic of sign language, young travelers roam the world of book and bookbinding. With a guided tour, getting to know each other, a discussion about what the book means for ourselves and a wonderful bookbinding workshop we spend three wonderful hours together. Students from the High School of Deaf and Hard of Hearing with graduates of Humanitarian studiew, undergraduates or high school students participate together in a special workshop at the Onassis Library, with interpretion in Greek Sign Language. Through an introduction to the role and evolution of the book in the perpetuation of the historical memory, we 'hear' the voice of young people with & without disability. The "tree" that marks our journey into the world of book and bookbinding, with leaves full of our thoughts and experiences, graces the Onassis Library for one day. Then, under the guidance of an experienced binder, the participants transform traditional bookbindings into original notebooks!
