"Focus on the person" for 42.055 students

42.055 students participated in the "Focus on the Person" Educational Program during our two-year collaboration with Stavros Niarchos Foundation. During 2017 - 2019, we implemented 687 educational programs in 490 schools nationwide.

Pupils' comments reflect the gradual change in their attitudes:

"They made us understand and be able to handle a person with disability, without being affected by any stereotypes"
"Because he let us ask questions very openly, I stopped fearing that I would offend him with something I would say. My whole experience has taught me that I can coexist with a disabled person without any problems, just like anyone else. "
"This talk made me change my mind about disabled people and learn that they can almost do what a non-disabled person would do"
"I felt an affinity for people with disability that I didn't have"
"I was struck by how informed she was and how well she answered our questions about disability. It also gave me the impression that he managed to break up quite a few stereotypes that we had in just 2 hours."

The Motivational Speakers of SKEP reveal their daily work:

Vaggelis Avgoulas, a blind lawyer, says: "Every visit to each school, was an investment in the active citizens of tomorrow, and leaving every classroom I was more optimistic, happier, because I found there's hope!".

Konstantinos Samaras, a deaf educator, adds: "Every day was a new day. Every time I feel satisfied that I have offered something in my own way, that I have helped to accept diversity.”

The ultimate goal of SKEP's programs is the smooth coexistence of all of us in a constantly evolving and changing society. For us, this comes from creating a school as a framework for equality of opportunity and inclusion in a community. A school that promotes empathy, dialogue, coexistence, acceptance, solidarity and respect for each one's uniqueness.

Part of our "Focus on the person" educational program was granted by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
