On the occasion of tomorrow's International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we were able, in cooperation with the Ethelon, to talk to employees of Taxibeat, a very young and positive audience. With us there was another speaker, Nikos Galanis, founder of the NGO "Dro" that highlights the personal value and create conditions for improving the quality of life of people with disability.

"Fingerprints" 2016-2017: awakening and changing students' attitudes towards diversity.
270 young people with and without disabilities filled Vorres Museum and participated together in interactive workshops. This interactive program, which is conducted for the 9th consecutive year, includes art and sports workshops and an open dialogue with our Motivational Speakers.

"Include the Excluded" στο Mazinnov : 1st french greek encounter of innovation

On Friday, November the 25th, as part of the Greek-French Forum for Entrepreneurship and Innovation - Mazinnov, which is conducted at the French Institute, we presented our new educational program.  Its aim is the interaction of young people with and without disabilities in a larger geographic scale, through interactive technology.

Last week we were invited to the "Innovate" day conference, held by the Municipality of Kifissia. Our executive, Kiousi Thalia, spoke to 300 young people from the region's high schools, for the development of SKEP from 2008 to date and what is it that makes a non-profit organization stand out.

In the panel were invited: Valia Papadimitrioy of 7indigo, Danae Bezantakou of the Navigator Shipping, Paul Evmorfidis of COCO-MAT, and Dimitris Kremmydas from DevelopGreece.

We are thankful for the invitation and the opportunity to inspire new business minds.

The Department of Social Support of Schools and Parents Associations of Pireus Municipality and SKEP organised an Open Dialogue regarding Diversity!

Key note speaker is our Motivational Speaker Panagiotis Pitsiniagkas.

On the occasion of the completion of the program "We are all citizens", we were today in Technopolis participating in events for primary schools. We organized art workshops for young people with and without disabilities and for two hours, all together, we painted and gave away our wishes. Meanwhile we coordinated an open discussion with students of the educational institution "Chrysostomos Smyrnis Leontios" on disability and diversity.

It was very nice to see children informed, active and available for serious discussion despite their young age.

As every year, today SKEP trained the volunteer students of UOA's Accesibility Unit for Students with Disabilities on how to assist manual wheelchair users.

Panagiotis Pitsiniagkas and George Moschos, Deputy Ombudsman for Children's Rights, were speakers at today's training of 350 teachers from all over Greece, organized by Desmos and Lambrakis Foundation aiming the development of culture of volunteerism and solidarity in children and young people.

During the same training, Panagiotis along with two other members of our association, Irini Trompeta and Thalia Kiousi, as well as with other representatives of NGOs, coordinated groups of teachers and designed together a project which will be implemented in schools during the school year.

Waiting 90 students of mainstream and special education to have fun together!

Artful workshops, bocce and speeches were held in Bakogianis Park under the presence of the Mayor, Mr Maniatogiannis and the Vice Mayor Mrs Xatzara.
For three hours we played, we created adn we got to know each other. At the end we discussed all together: high school students, young people with disability, educators, and SKEPs executives.

Time was up but we wanted more...

Panagiotis Pitsiniagkas, SKEPs executive, was a speaker at the 3rd Conference of iatronet themed: "Child patient".

His speech was entitled "Isolation and stigma of the child-patient with disabilities: stereotypes and discrimination" and through it he explained how he breaks down stereotypes conversing daily with primary and secondary school students.

Closing here are the words of Dr. Temple Grandin which marked the beginning of our talk:
"There needs to be a lot more emphasis on what a child can do, instead of what he cannot do"
