Online Disability Awareness Program “Asking to Learn”

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we at SKEP have turned adverse conditions into opportunities by finding solutions that allow us to remain efficient and flexible, while evolving and enriching our Educational Programs, both in Greece and abroad.  Therefore, we created the Online Disability Awareness Program “Asking to Learn”, implemented since October 2020.

And the good side of 2020 was…

Any difficulty can also be turned into an opportunity for something positive.

2020 has been a difficult year for all of us, but it wasn’t only that.

It was a year that brought us closer together with our loved ones, a year that made us rethink our privileges and priorities, a year that brought many students “in our home”, some from Athens and others outside the Attica area, since we have created and implemented our Online Program "Asking to learn".

“Asking to Learn” – SKEP’s Online Disability Awareness Program

What do we do when we see a person with disability on the street? Usually we turn our back and don’t even look…
We at SKEP do exactly the opposite. We want you to look, to ask, to learn…

The fight against ignorance is the answer to the social exclusion that people with disability face on a daily basis. This is why, since 2008, we have been implementing Disability Awareness Educational Programs aiming to deconstruct stereotypes and reshape attitudes, starting from the early school years all the way to society as a whole.

What will you do to change the world around you?

When the quarantine ends it must end for us all

The mandatory lockdown can be difficult for some people. But for many people with disability, staying at home has always been their only option.

The World Report on Disability reveals the worst and most persistent enemy of more than one billion disabled people – discrimination.

As a result, people with disability experience their own kind of "quarantine" on a permanent basis, that of isolation, exclusion, invisibility.
